In this show we involved four/six contestants that are split into teams of two. They compete against each other to determine who the best “loggers” in different disciplines. Again we get the audience divided into two parts and they are encouraged to cheer on their respective teams in battle.
Warm up: A musical intro of 60 seconds curtain opener followed by a “Haka” ( a traditional Maor welcome) in the build up with all the lumberjacks contestants.
Disciplines include:
880 Chainsaw chop: Start off the show with to a chainsaw chop from most power of any STIHL professional chain saw
Underhand Chop: This contest is against time. Using a single bit pinned axe, competitors chop through a horizontal log in a line. Timing begins on the signal "Go" and ends when the log is severed
Flying Cookies/Discs: Chainsaw: The competitors saw off successive disks from the top of a vertical log to make a single cookie shapes.
Single Buck Sawing: A 2-meter hand saw with 5cm "teeth" used to cut through a large log in the shortest time possible. A technique that involves skill as well as lots of muscle power, very demanding challenge that keeps the crowd fascinated.
Axe Throw: throwing an axe against a target for points from distances
Additional tasks for four Men
Springboard: One of the most difficult tasks but spectacular, The teams must chop into a large standing log and attach a board at regular intervals, they then climb up on to the board and balance while then hollow out another cut for the next board higher up they go the more the excitement rises.
Standing Chop: A very dangerous operation requires a high level of concentration and skill. Both teams cut from both sides of the standing tree trunk.
Party tricks: At the end of the show we put on a bit of magic with really special trick done with the aid of a chainsaw.
Additional tasks for Six Men
Double Buck: Two sawyers working as a team use a two-man bucking saw to cut through a 20-inch diameter log, Double buck team consists of two men. A starting cut arc is allowed. Timing begins for both competitions when the signal to 'GO' is called and ends when the log is completely severed
Jack & Jill Buck Chop: Jack and Jill bucking contests consist of a man and two female contestants from the audience chopping contest against time.
Hot Saw:A single sawyer using a single-cylinder, single-motor power saw makes three vertical cuts- down, up and down through a 20-inch diameter log. This one-man contest is strictly against time. The chainsaws may be warmed up prior to the contest so protective ear plugs are required
OBS! Tree climbing can be offered as an addition to this show. Please do note that it must be booked well in advance of the show, the price will vary and it depends on natural conditions.
